Halte maritime
Halte maritime
The Halte maritime is part of an 18-station outdoor interpretive tour through the Parc régional de Beauharnois-Salaberry.
One of the objectives of the mandate was to break with the previous iteration by creating a non-traditional approach. Merlicht designed a colourful and intriguing work that departs from the monotony of the brownfield and its heavy industrial history. It may be taken in from the nearby road and opens up to discovery as the visitor draws near. The installation becomes a route along the bike path that runs from the river to the park to illustrate the region’s industrial history and role of the Saint Lawrence Seaway in its development. Strolling through the space, visitors learn more about the exhibition’s 18 themes through exclusive photos and local anecdotes.
With a view to sustainability, the support structures are made from recovered materials, and the graphic surfaces are designed to withstand the effects of time.
